Hey folks, just wanted to stick a flag in the fact that I have resurrected my camped but ignored counter.social account (it’s @matociquala, surprising nobody) and also obtained a mastodon account, @matociquala@raggedfeathers.com.

I’m not sure what I will be using either for yet, but Instagram is an algorithm nightmare, twitter seems to be lurching toward that 15-year-social-media-death-zone with ever increasing speed, and I don’t have the energy to resurrect my dreamwidth/livejournal account.

We’ll always have Paris. Or anyway, this place.

The Best American Science Fiction And Fantasy 2022, edited by John Joseph Adams and Rebecca Roanhorse, is out on Tuesday. It contains my story “The Red Mother” and many many other fantastic works of short speculative fiction! You can pre-order it here or from your favorite retailer.

I have survived Viable Paradise, and a lot of running around, and currently have one last houseguest for two more days, and a vet visit for the horse tomorrow, and today we were at Pandemonium in Cambridge to support the Goblin Market Halloween event. (Just as audience, not presenting. But my dear friend Sarah Monette/Katherine Addison read… it was goblin themed, after all!)

Hope you all are well and full of autumn joy. The heat here has broken, and we actually had a real frost. The stove is an absolute disaster because I am making quince jelly, so I will have to scrub that once it’s done. There are chestnuts! And I need to go get some of the local persimmons from the farm stand.

Ahhh, autumn.

Best,

Bear
